1. Why Hide My IP Using Proxy Servers?

When you connect to the internet, your computer is assigned an IP address, which is your unique identification number on the Internet. This number may contain information about where you are located, who you are, and what programs are running on your computer. Many websites and software applications use your IP address to track and profile your online activity. Using proxy servers, you can conceal your identity online by showing these websites a "fake IP" located in a country of your choice, blocking hackers and prying eyes from knowing your true location or identity.

2. What exactly does a proxy server do?

Proxy servers set your web browser proxy settings to show the fake IP. You will then be able to browse the Internet with Internet Explorer, FireFox, Netscape, or Opera totally anonymously. When you stop running on the proxy server your web browser settings will revert back to normal (without the fake IP).

Yes, they will work on any kind of Internet connection.

7. Can I use proxy servers on both my laptop and desktop?

8. A website I am trying to access is still blocking me, what can I do?

If you are trying to access a website via a proxy server that has banned you such as eBay, Amazon, a message board, or a gambling site that does not allow access to US visitors, please follow these steps to be sure you are properly hiding your identity: (1) Clear your cookies for the website you wish to access. (2) Use a proxy server from the list to find a new IP address and browse the website. (3) If you have an account with the website, do not sign in, but instead make an account with a different name, street address, E-mail, credit card number, etc.. from your old account.

9. I want to gamble online. Can this software give me a Non-US IP?

Yes. Many of our proxy servers are located outside the US.

10. My school or work firewall blocks sites like MySpace.com. Can a proxy server help me?

Yes! Some schools, libraries, cyber cafés, and work places block access to many websites. Proxy servers allow you to "tunnel" right through the network firewall you are behind so you can access any website that you have been blocked from.

11. How many different IP addresses can I get with CloakAnon?

12. Do proxy servers work with HTTPS and SSL connections?

Yes, however there are not as many fake IPs that support SSL connections as there are non-SSL IP addresses. To find a fake IP that works with SSL, just try a few new proxy servers until you are able to browse a website in SSL mode.

13. Can I use proxy servers to block my IP address on sites like Craigslist and eBay?

Yes, your real IP address will be totally concealed on Craigslist and eBay.

14. Why am I not able to post on Craigslist using some of your IPs?

The IP address you are using may be banned on Craigslist. Check the box "Allow Open Network IP Addresses" and clear your Craigslist cookies before posting. Doing this will give your ad a higher chance of it not being blocked.

15. Why am I still banned from my favorite web site?

Download Cookie Crumble and clear all your cookies, then use one of the proxy servers to login to the site and change your IP. If you used a login on this website, make a new one with completely new information (new credit card, bank account, street address information, etc...).

16. How can I check my new proxy server IP address to confirm it has really changed?

There are many websites that show your IP address such as www.formyip.com, www.whatismyip.com, www.showmyip.com, and www.ipchicken.com. Or, you can just visit any of our pages and see your IP in the top right of the site header.

17. How does a proxy server protect me from spyware, viruses and hackers?

The proxy server acts like a barrier or middleman and allows you to turn off cookies, scripts or any other potentially harmful threats to your privacy or computer while you surf.
